Texturing
To start texturing, I want to create a colour map first, which identifies the different types of materials that I wanted to be placed at the different section of the crate. I did this in Photoshop, by paint the Unwraped UV of the crate with different colours.
Then I open DDO, which is a software that borrows functnalities from Photoshop to create textures. After input the mesh and the colour map, click Create Project. Then open 3DO, which display the mesh that has been inputed. Click the smart materials button at the bottom of the DDO window and select a material. After the material has been chosen, select which colour it should be painted on. The image below shows the completed texture.
The materials can be further customised by clicking on their masks and edit them base on the various maps that was inputed at the start to combine it withh other textures.
After it is finished, saveall the maps created.
