History
Humans, from the planet Earth, were once the most powerful species of the galaxy. The Earth Republic was the first regime to govern all humans. The Earth Republic was a galaxy-spanning interstellar human nation. It was founded in 2651 as the ruling government of Earth, before the humans have invented the hyperspace drive that enabled them to explore distant planets. After the invention of hyperspace drive in 2715, the Earth Republic begun the colonisation of habitable planets outside of the solar system. Humans colonised a vast proportion without encountering any alien civilizations, until the discovery of Am’marrian Empire on the planet of Am’mar in 3572. By the time of their discovery by the humans, the Am’marrians have just mastered the basics of space travel. Awed by the advanced technologies of the humans, Am’marrians proposed an offer of alliance in 3601, after spending the past decades studying the human languages. The Am’marrians also offered that Am’marrian scholars be sent to the federation in order to improve understanding between the two species. The republic accepted both offers after initial hesitation, after learning that they are no threat to the human race, due to their relatively primitive technology and small population. Later on, Humans encountered, Khitan Confederation and Cilican Alliance in 3702 and 3751 respectively. The Khitans and the Cilicans have technologies that were more advanced than those of the Am’marrians, but they are match compared to those developed by Humans. Due to the gap in technology between the Humans and the aliens, the Human’s technology and philosophy were studied by species across the galaxy. Proud at what they have achieved and consider themselves naturally superior to the other species of the galaxy, the Earth Republic becomes progressively slothful.
Due to the alienation caused by the vast distance between the colonies and the republic’s heartland, combined with the excessive taxes demanded by the increasingly corrupted government, resulted in a revolt to break out in 4137. Started on the fringe world of Mintavia, it soon spread across the republic. The revolt was ended in 4264, and the Earth Republic emerge victorious. The revolt has resulted in the death of trillions, severe damage to infrastructure on countless planets, and the stagnation of technological development within the republic. Several of the republic’s boarder planets that were destroyed or abandoned by human inhabitants during the revolt was occupied by the Arm’marian Empire. The Earth Republic has asked for those occupied planets to be returned, which the Arm’marian Empire refused. Due to the Earth Republic been weakened by the revolt, and the significant improvement of weapon technologies made by the Arm’marians, the republic decided not to reclaim the occupied planets by force. This caused the tension between the Humans and the Arm’marians to escalate.
The economy of the republic was devastated by the rebellion, causing widespread inflation, which further fueled the corruption within the government. Prices of everyday products rose tenfold from the year 4270 to 4271, and rate of inflation increases with every passing year. To bolster the
During a military exercise of the at the border region of the federation in 4288, Earth Federation Navy was attacked by the Arm’marian forces, starting the First Human-Arm’marian War. Admiral Scott retreated his fleet early in the battle, leaving the rest of the navy behind. After suffering heavy damage, Admiral Kevin Krige collided his flagship with an Arm’marian cruiser, destroying both ship. The result of the first battle of the war was an Arm’marian victory. Admiral Scott was arrested due to desertion, but was later released without charge due to his connections within the government. Arm’marian forces continued to won several victories against the Humans before the Earth Republiic offered to pay a large amount of war reparations and the cession of several star systems. Peace was re-established in 4292, when the Arm’marians accepted the federation’s offer.
Due to the rebellion, Human-Arm’marian War, and corruption, the living standard of humans dropped significantly. The factors mentioned above lowered the production rate of items that are essential to the everyday life of the people, which created hyperinflation. In 4302, the rate of hyperinflation has exceeded 300% and continued to rise. This caused massive social unrest throughout the republic.
In 4310, General Joseph Krige (son of Admiral Kevin Krige) rebelled against the Earth Republic with the support of his troops and the people of Hyades, the star cluster which he was stationed at. Krige’ promise of restoring Humanity to its former glory attracted the support of any planets, which also joined the rebellion, provided Krige with weapons and men. Countless battles was fought between the rebels and republic’s forces, and the rebels struggle to defeat the republic. In 4314, Krige’s forces launched an assault on the planet of Hestok, Due to the close distance between Hestok and Earth, the Earth Republic sent a massive force to retake the planet from the rebels and ordered the Republic First Fleet, Republic Second Fleet, Republic Third Fleet, and to the orbit of Earth to guard it against possible rebel invasion. After a long battle at Hestok, the republic forces managed to drive out the rebels. That remained of the rebel forces retreated, luring the republic forces to be further away from Earth. The commander of the Republic Third Fleet, Admiral Kenway, was a secret supporter of General Krige. Admiral Kenway attacked Earth with a combined force of his fleet and rebel forces that was smuggled to Earth on his ships. The republic forces defended Earth was caught off-guard, and was quickly defeated. Soon after the capture of Earth, Admiral Scott was arrested and executed personally by General Krige for treason. With the higher echelon of the republic destroyed, Krige announced the dissolution of the Earth Republic and the formation of Galetia Republic, and he himself as its first president.
However, many former republic territories refused to acknowledge Krige’s authority. Some declared to be the legitimate successor of the former Earth Republic, while others became fully independent nations. Sensed the weakened state of the Human race, the Arm’marians declared war against Humans in 4316, started the second Human-Arm’marian War. With the various warlords and newly formed nations fighting amongst themselves, the Arm’marian forces meet little resistance on their path of conquest. Seeing that the Arm’marians are able to conquer the Humans with relative ease, the Khitan Confederation and Cilican Alliance both starts to prepare their own military forces; hoping that they can also carve up Human territories for themselves. Facing both internal and external threats, Humanity is on the verge of annihilation.
